Early Response Team Basic Training
Early Response Teams (ERTs) are specially trained United Methodist volunteers who provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of disasters. ERT members are often among the first church-based volunteers allowed into disaster-affected areas after clearance from local authorities. They help secure homes with tarps and plywood, remove debris, clean out flooded areas, sort and distribute supplies, and listen with compassion to those who have experienced loss. Their role is not to fix everything, but to bring practical help and Christ’s love during the critical days immediately following a disaster—always serving under the direction of local officials and conference leadership.
The Greater New Jersey Annual Conference is offering a Basic ERT Training on Saturday, November 1, from 9am to 4pm at Montclair State University. This training, provided through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual grounding needed to safely and effectively assist in disaster response. If you are re-certifying, you only need to attend from noon to 4pm. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Montclair State University is located at 1 Normal Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043. Detailed location and parking information will be provided after registration.
This training is open to all—membership in the United Methodist Church is not required. Spots are limited–Click the button below to register!

Toy Drive for Mission Partners
The season of giving is almost here—and together, we have the chance to make Christmas brighter for children and families in our community! Haddonfield United Methodist Church is once again partnering with Acenda Integrated Health, The Neighborhood Center, and UrbanPromise for our Annual Christmas Toy Drive.
From November 1 through December 14, we’ll be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. These gifts will bring hope and holiday cheer to local families who might otherwise go without this season.
You can drop off donations in the marked collection bin located in the Welcome Center. Every toy, game, or stuffed animal helps remind a child that they are seen, loved, and valued. Whether you give a little or a lot, your generosity will make a real difference. Together, we can help ensure that every child experiences the joy and wonder of Christmas morning.
Saturday, November 1-Sunday, December 14
Secret Santa & Winter Wonderland Festival
Donations: Sunday, November 2-Sunday, December 14
Winter Wonderland Festival at Byron Gardens: Saturday, December 20
Now in its third year, our Secret Santa outreach is becoming a special way to share Christmas joy with children in need. Through our partnership with Neighborhood Collaborative Community Gardens, we help provide gifts for children living in Camden and Nicaragua.
Beginning Sunday, November 2, you can stop by the table in the Welcome Center to pick up a Secret Santa letter. Each letter includes a child’s wish list, with an estimated cost of around $50 per child. Please return unwrapped gifts by December 14 so they can be sorted and delivered in time for the celebrations.
Want to meet the children and share in the fun? You’re invited to join us for the Winter Wonderland Festival at Byron Gardens in Camden on Saturday, December 20. We’ll meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. Click the button to register!
Feed My Starving Children
Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22
The Haddonfield Council of Churches is excited to host its annual “Feed My Starving Children” food packing event on Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Haddonfield Middle School. This meaningful, hands-on service opportunity invites volunteers ages 5 and up to come together as a community to pack life-saving meals for children and families facing starvation and malnutrition around the world. We hope you’ll join us in making a tangible difference!
Register for a time slot by clicking the button below and filling out the form. Registration is required by November 1.
If you are unable to attend but would still like to support the effort, monetary donations may be made to help defray the cost of meals. Select the fund “Mission: Feed My Starving Children” when giving online or include “Feed My Starving Children” on your check or envelope.
Operation Bear Hug
Through Christmas Eve
This Christmas Eve, we’ll once again deliver Operation Bear Hug—a mission of love and comfort for patients spending the holiday in local hospitals. Each year, our congregation collects new teddy bears and plushies (“cuddle hugs”) to remind people they’re not alone and that they are deeply loved.
Our goal this year is to collect 1,000 bears or plushies by December 24! Every donation helps us bring warmth, encouragement, and a little Christmas joy to someone who needs it most.
Support UMCOR General Fund
Anytime
Support the work of The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the humanitarian relief and development arm of Global Ministries. UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development.
