Children’s and Family Events
Children and Family Christmas Eve Service
Wednesday, December 24 at 4 pm in the Sanctuary
Explore the meaning of Christmas during our family-friendly worship service. This year, our Drama Ministry will tell the story of Jesus’ birth, with a cast of over 40 youth and children, in a fun and accessible play. We’ll also sing familiar Christmas carols and light glowsticks as part of the experience.
New Jersey MasterChorale Christmas Concert
In the Bleak Midwinter
Watch the replay!
This concert begins with Bach's Cantata No. 62, written for the season of Advent where the church eagerly awaits the coming of the promised Messiah. This is followed by shorter pieces concerned with the beauty of snow and the weather in winter. Finally, the Magnificat attributed to Pergolesi concludes the evening with a joyous and celebratory proclamation of God's goodness.
Christmas Mission Projects
Operation Bear Hug
Through Christmas Eve
This Christmas Eve, we’ll once again deliver Operation Bear Hug—a mission of love and comfort for patients spending the holiday in local hospitals. Each year, our congregation collects new teddy bears and plushies (“cuddle hugs”) to remind people they’re not alone and that they are deeply loved.
Our goal this year is to collect 1,000 bears or plushies by December 24! Every donation helps us bring warmth, encouragement, and a little Christmas joy to someone who needs it most.
Alternative Giving: Giving Tree
Through Advent
In a season often filled with long wish lists and overflowing shopping carts, our church is offering a different way to celebrate the spirit of Christmas - one that centers generosity, compassion, and care for our neighbors. This year, we invite you to consider Alternative Giving: donating to one of our missions in honor of someone you love.
A Giving Tree will be displayed in the Welcome Center throughout Advent, decorated with ornaments that represent the ministries we support. Each ornament lists a specific mission area and several dollar amounts you can choose from. Simply select an ornament, make your contribution, and give the ornament as a gift to honor a loved one this Christmas.
Your alternative gift can support:
Cherry Hill Food Pantry: helping local families keep nutritious meals on the table
Refugee Resettlement: offering stability and welcome to families building a new life
Green Team: funding sustainability initiatives that care for creation
Simple Homes: assisting individuals transitioning from homelessness to housing
Neighborhood Collaborative Community Gardens: strengthening community through shared growing spaces
Alternative Giving is a beautiful way to honor friends and family with gifts that reach far beyond the tree. We invite you to join us in sharing hope, kindness, and love in this meaningful way. Click the button below to donate online!
Advent at Haddonfield UMC
Sermon Series: God With Us
Begins Sunday, November 30
The holiday season is an exciting time - good, gifts, gatherings. But in the business of the season we can sometimes struggle - with worry about the future, stress of bills that pile up, grief of loss of loved ones - anxiety for the happenings in the world - these feelings can cause us to feel alone while the world celebrates. But the purpose of Jesus’ birth is that all people would never be alone. God is ALWAYS with us - in our fear, our joy, and in our struggle.
Come and get real with us as we hold the joy of the season, the anxieties we try to hide, and find God WITH US together!
