Children’s and Family Events
Advent Workshop
Sunday, December 6 | 5-7pm
Celebrate the joy of the season with crafts, food, and festive fun at the HUMC Kids Advent Workshop on Sunday, December 6, from 5–7pm in Fellowship Hall! This free, family-friendly event is a wonderful way to gather with loved ones, enjoy sugar cookie decorating, sip hot chocolate, and share a light dinner together.
In the spirit of giving, we will also be collecting brand-new teddy bears or plushies for our church’s Operation Bear Hug mission project, bringing comfort and cheer to patients in local hospitals.
Bring your creativity, your family, and your holiday spirit for an evening full of joy, laughter, and togetherness!
Children and Family Christmas Eve Service
Thursday, December 24 at 4 pm in the Sanctuary
Explore the meaning of Christmas during our family-friendly worship service. This year, our Drama Ministry will tell the story of Jesus’ birth, with a cast of over 40 youth and children, in a fun and accessible play. We’ll also sing familiar Christmas carols and light glowsticks as part of the experience.
New Jersey MasterChorale Christmas Concert
Candlelight Lessons and Carols
Sunday, December 13 | 7pm | HUMC Sanctuary and live-streamed
Join the 75-voice New Jersey MasterChorale for a Candlelight Lessons and Carols, presented in the church sanctuary. The program will include familiar carols as well as newly composed works celebrating the Christmas season. Modeled after the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King’s College, this presentation will be accompanied by harp, bells, and organ. Come listen, sing, and celebrate with us!
Tickets, are required for the concert. They will be available for free starting Friday, November 13.
Christmas Mission Projects
Operation Bear Hug
Sunday, November 1 - Thursday, December 24
This Christmas Eve, we’ll once again spread comfort, joy, and love through Operation Bear Hug! On November 1, we’ll start collecting new teddy bears and cuddly plushies to share with people who may need a little extra love during the holiday season. This year, our “cuddle hugs” will be delivered not only to local hospitals, but also to nursing homes, bringing a tangible reminder that our community cares.
You can help by donating a new plushie or by signing up to participate in this special Christmas Eve mission. Whether it’s placed in the arms of someone spending Christmas in a hospital or shared with a resident of a nursing home, your gift can bring a smile, comfort, and a little Christmas magic. Help us reach our goal of 1,000 cuddle hugs! Register to be a part of our delivery team
Toy Drive
Sunday, November 1 - Sunday, December 13
Help us spread joy this Christmas season! We are collecting toy donations to bless children at Urban Promise, Acenda Integrated Health, and Neighborhood Center. Donations begin Sunday, November 1. Please bring your new, unwrapped toys to the church and help us make Christmas a little brighter for children in our community. Every donation makes a difference!

‘Tis the season… to be waiting? Yes! We await celebrations, gatherings, presents, and the coming of the Christ child. But we already know how the Christmas Story goes, right?
Did you know that each Gospel has its own unique story to tell? It’s own individual take on Christmas? Each of these four stories has an unexpected message for us in a world that desperately needs peace, hope, love, and joy.
Join us this Advent for Awaiting The Already, as we find the twist in the story we think we already know.
